Otis James, Sr. was born August 09, 1941 in Monterey, Louisiana. He retired from Beatrice Food Storage Company. Then, he became a lifelong member of the James Auto-Mechanic business throughout various locations in Chicago, Illinois. Dad loved his time with his brothers and cousins at the “yard” and they helped everyone who needed help.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mattie; brothers: J.C., Charles, Bobby; sisters: Ernestine, Louisa, and Shirley Mae.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children: Otis jr, LaDonna, Shunna, Marlon, and Sylvester; two brothers: Marvin (Texas), Richard (Louisiana); sister, Marilyn (Illinois); Aunt Jo and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dad lived a peaceful life and made his transition to eternal life on December 2, 2022, at the age of 81. Over the last few years dads’ illnesses became more aggressive. Dad never complained, remained patient, and maintained his peace. So “if you knew him, you knew he was a man of a few words.” September 2022 dads’ health declined, and the illnesses required hospitalization. During the hospital stays, dad still smiled and say “ok.”
Dad was a humble man and during his last days, he touched us with his final words and final wishes.

Richard T. Melson, 76, passed away on November 19, 2022 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL. He was born on October 30, 1946, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, son of Thomas Warren Melson and Amy Melson. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Haverford College, Haverford, PA, in 1968 with honors in Psychology, and completed a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota in 1974. Richard was a long time Chicago resident, and worked as a market maker at the Chicago Board Options Exchange for many years. He was also a Life Master in bridge, and a fine pianist, an avocation he pursued avidly in retirement. He is survived by his sister, Christine Melson of West Hartford, CT, and cousins Janet Melson of Denver, CO; Jeffrey Tate of Farmington, MI; and Janice Palsgrove of Adamstown, PA. Alfredo Maa, 85, of Aurora, IL passed away on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 at Arista Healthcare. He was born September 13th, 1937 in Matamoros Coahuila, Mexico. Alfredo is survived by his wife Lilia Maa, married 64 years; two sisters, Griselda Pinedo of Durango, Mexico and Alejandrina Valdespino of Aurora, IL; one brother, Ramon Maa of Aurora, IL ; four children, Griselda, Alfredo Jr., Reymundo, and Lilia Maa; six grandchildren, Jennifer O'Connor, Richard Villarreal, Sean M. Guenther, Nicholas Rivera, Daniel M. Rivera, and Gabriella Maa; and one great-grandchild, Lilia M. Villarreal. In memory of Debra-Debbie-Dee Slawek-Wold-Koehler born January 11, 1954, having passed on September 14, 2022. Just by her name, one can gather she could be complicated. Oftentimes she could be loud, opinionated, and intrusive. Most of the time she was caring, funny, and well-intentioned. She was the ultimate extrovert able to meet people and make friends wherever she went. Her friendships were life-long. Her love for her family was whole-hearted despite periods of disagreement. She had faith in Jesus and the Catholic church. She is survived by her mother (Angela Renski), her son (David Wold), her brothers (Dean & Tony Slawek), her beloved nephews (Sean & Joseph Slawek), and numerous others with whom she shared a family bond. She is also survived by her large extended families at Berwyn North School District 98 (Jefferson Middle School), Mendota Hills, and, the community of Country Club Woods. And, of course, her beloved animals Johnnie, Jackie, Kacey, Jeezy, Susie, and Bob. Rest In Peace. You are and will be missed dearly. Jerry Joe VanCrey, 58, passed away on August 14th, 2022, in his hometown of Grayslake Il.
After being diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2015 his battle had just begun. However, there was a method to his madness. Between science, nature and nutrition, he surpassed the medical expectations he was given and fought this disease to the very end.
In Jerry’s younger years, he was known for making people laugh, always clowning around. When he wasn’t cracking jokes, you can find him and his twin brother, Jack, on their BMX bikes, wreaking havoc in the neighborhood.
Jerry’s hobbies were building models, repairing cars, motorcycles and small engines, fine tuning his bikes and was able to “Jerry-rig” any of his ideas that came along his path.
While worked as a plumber he was a multitalented guy in almost all of the trades as in, restoring bathrooms, painting apartments to perfection, ETC... When help was needed, he was always there.
Jerry was a humble, easy going and a simple man. Enjoyed relaxing with friends and family, drinking a cold one and smoking his Pall Malls.

Jose Antonio “Toni” Ramos Crespo, 73, of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in the countryside hills of Barrio Espino, San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to parents Modesto and Antonia Ramos on August 10, 1948. Jose went to school in the San Lorenzo District and was a member of the Sagrado Corazon Y Los Doce Apostoles in Puerto Rico. Jose also at a very young age worked in his parents’ farm learning valuable lessons about work, survival and harvesting what you plant. He carried those learnings as a badge of honor. Jose migrated to the states at the young age of 17 to make a better life for himself and his future family. Jose was raised with 14 siblings and helped many of them migrate and transition into the United States, welcoming many of them into his home until they settled and assimilated with the new culture and language. He worked at International Paper Company for 30+ years partnering with many of his brothers and family members. Jose retired in his early 50’s and moved back to Puerto Rico, built his dream home along with a gentleman's farm that included chickens, roosters, sheep, cows, goats and harvested all sorts of vegetables and fruits. Jose loved to grow beautiful gardens and took pride in caring for it. Jose loved Jibaro Folkloric music from Puerto Rico and dabbled and sang along to it with his cuatro or guitar, a true and quintessential Jibarito. Jose was also a profound loyalist and a Godly servant who gave unselfishly to his family and friends. He was a kind and loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always filled with laughter and joy and most importantly loved the Lord. He taught his children the fear and love of the Lord, humility, being kind and loving and never stop learning.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by a brother Enrique Ramos and a son Jose Enrique Ramos. Jose is survived by his son Eddy Ramos and his wife Katherine of Elgin, IL, daughter Daisy Erdmann and her husband Eric of Schaumburg, IL; six grandchildren Marina A. Ramos, Eddy N. Ramos, Jacob R. Ramos, Anaeli G. Ramos, Gianna F. Ramos, and Lucas E. T. Ramos.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church 819 N 16th Ave, Melrose Park, IL 60160. The celebration will be held at Revive Church at 1:00 pm 10040 W Grand Ave, Franklin Park, IL 60131. Burial will be held in El Remanso Memorial Park.

Bill worked in business development in the environmental field for over 35 years, which he enjoyed because it let him do his favorite thing - connect with all kinds of people. His passion for his career brought him from the East Coast to the Midwest, where he spent the last 18 years. Throughout his travels Bill made friends everywhere he went, and there was never a short conversation with Bill. Many will remember him firing up his Weber grill at a moment's notice, barbecuing for his family and friends at all hours. His larger-than-life presence, sarcasm, and humor will forever be missed.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Christine; his four children - Ryan, Julia, Christopher and Kyle - as well as a large extended family, including brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. He now joins his mom, Felicidad McKee. Manuel (Meme) Montes of Chicago IL, Age 55 Eternal Sleep Monday May 30th, 2022. Born and raised in Chicago October 1966. Parents: Heriberto J Montes & Prudencia Zapata de Montes Meme was the youngest of seven siblings. He attended and graduated from Kelvyn Park High school Class of 1985, then on to Job Corp for Administrative training. He worked many years with ABN Ambro in their financial copy center before their downsizing. Worked several locations thereafter. Volunteered many years as a docent for Lincoln Park Zoo. Meme loved animals. He also was avid reader, loved researching topics and loved to vacation when he could. Traveled to Europe several times. Visited the Salt Mines in Prague, proudly showing pictures of his travels. Meme loved to listen to music of all genres. One performer he was fond of was the late Teena Marie who played a couple sets in Chicago and he went to see her each night. Meme will be forever remembered for his endless generosity of advice, jokes, and love of music. Jennifer Rose Adreani, was born in Evanston, Illinois on May 8, 1960, and died on April 28, 2022 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, after an intense battle with cancer. For 39 years, she was co-owner and operator of the restaurant Adreani’s Pizza. She enjoyed the good things in life: hummingbirds, dogs, kids, good stories in books and on TV, her family, and the ocean. She wasn’t afraid to try new things, whether it was weird beers or sushi. She might not like it, but she’d sure give it a try. Jennifer was downright memorable. She was shy, but once you got to know her, she was one of the goofiest folks you’d meet. She was generous, thoughtful, funny, and kind. Jennifer is survived by her husband Paul, her daughter Amanda Rose, and her son Tom. Jennifer will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.

Alfred (Al) M. Hecker, 66, of Wheeling, IL died Friday, March 25th, 2022. He was born August 20, 1955 in Dickinson, North Dakota. Al leaves behind 4 children, Tara Pokorney of Nebraska, MSG Bradley Hecker of New York, Patrick Hecker of South Carolina, and Angela Blount of Nevada. He had 16 grandchildren. He also leaves behind siblings Archie LeDoux of Illinois, Arvella Simpson (twin) of Washington, Donna Barnett of North Dakota, Anna May Borst of Montana, and Terry Crawford of Arizona, as well as numerous friends that he regarded as family. He was employed by Chicago Classic Coach for 16 years. Al enjoyed camping, bowling, riding horses,
and he loved his coffee.

Bob Harold Grogan, 84, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022. Bob was born on September 5, 1937 to James Grogan and Flora (Shepherd) Grogan in Le Junior, KY. He worked for Central Can Company for over 40 years before retiring. He went on to work at Bass Pro Shops for another 18 years where he enjoyed teaching others about his favorite hobby—fishing. Bob met Brenda in 1958. They married in 1961 and remained inseparable for 60 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who instilled strong values and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
