William Robert Nealis

82 of Libertyville, IL passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2025 surrounded by family after a valiantly fought battle with cancer. Born January 24th, 1943 to Elenore and Hubert Nealis of Evergreen Park, IL. The Nealis family moved to Des Plaines, IL where William attended high school and met his lifelong best friend, Ed Bromberg. Bill & Ed shared adventures for over 66 years. William enjoyed spending time with his family, his dogs, gardening, and attending car shows.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elenore and Hubert his brothers Hubert jr and Alan, and his son William jr. Survived by his wife of 52 years Patricia, son Kevin (Erin), daughters Melissa (Joseph), Kathleen (Tom) and Julie. Grandchildren Lee, Jessica, Jacqulyne, William Dustin, Logan, Sean, Jennifer, Daniel, Joseph, Johnathan, Carlene and 24 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held privately for family only at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is planning to have a commemorative trail-side bench dedicated in his name at Old School Forest Preserve where William loved walking his dogs and spending time in nature.
