Roger Joseph Herman

passed away in his home on April 28 2025 in Barrington, Illinois. He was 81.Born in Chicago in 1943, Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Harold, as well as his sister Judy. He is survived by his amazing wife Nancy, his brother Joseph, his son John (wife Alina) and daughter Laura (husband Patrick). He had two grandchildren, Jolina and Adam.

Roger was a hard-working stoic man who will be missed dearly. Early in his life, he worked as a butcher, which would later be useful in his love for pheasant hunting. He was skilled mechanically, and once worked on the very first four-motor dragster. Six years into his long career at the phone company, he was drafted into the army, where he won an award as a sharpshooter. While there, he was placed into the communications arm of the army and spent time in Thailand building telephone infrastructure. After leaving the army he found a love for boating, snowmobiling, riding his Harley, and dirt bike (thanks for the best childhood a kid could ask for). He also loved skiing, golfing, fishing, and as mentioned before, pheasant hunting. He will be missed by many.

After 39 years of service the guys at the telephone company brought him a dozen chocolate glazed donuts to his retirement party because they were his go-to dessert (apparently and unbeknownst to Nancy, John, or Laurie). So this last chocolate glazed is to you Dad, rest in peace.
