Richard T. Melson

76, passed away on November 19, 2022 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL. He was born on October 30, 1946, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, son of Thomas Warren Melson and Amy Melson. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Haverford College, Haverford, PA, in 1968 with honors in Psychology, and completed a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota in 1974. Richard was a long time Chicago resident, and worked as a market maker at the Chicago Board Options Exchange for many years. He was also a Life Master in bridge, and a fine pianist, an avocation he pursued avidly in retirement. He is survived by his sister, Christine Melson of West Hartford, CT, and cousins Janet Melson of Denver, CO; Jeffrey Tate of Farmington, MI; and Janice Palsgrove of Adamstown, PA. A memorial event will be planned by his family. Donations in his memory may be sent to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Arrangements by Journey Cremations in Chicago.
