John William Scott

58 of Highwood, Illinois, died suddenly of natural causes in his home on March 18th, 2025. He was born on July 15th, 1966 in St. Benoit-La-Forte, France at US Army Chinon Hospital to John Edward Scott and Lynne Alphonsine Scott. John grew up with his three siblings living the worldwide adventure of an Army family. The second child of four, he and his older sister Linda, younger brother Ted, and younger sister Nancy had each other as they switched through a myriad of different schools as a result of their father’s relocation to various duty stations. Their last move was to Fort Sheridan, where he attended Northwood Junior High and later Highland Park High School. John worked many years at Pierantoni’s in Highwood. He worked for 20 years for Signs Now in Highland Park, and most recently as the Production Manager at IC Signs and Graphics for the past 9 years. John had a wealth of knowledge of Highwood and Highland Park’s history and had many friends in the community. He was an avid collector of many things and had many hobbies. He enjoyed metal detecting and found many “treasures and artifacts” over the years when he’d do so. He was an avid cyclist and loved to ride his E-Bike. He loved music, playing oldies for people in the car- whether they wanted to hear them or not- on his trips to see family in Iowa and Michigan. John also enjoyed fishing and cherished the memories he made when camping and fishing in the Pacific Northwest with his best friend Paul Coorlin. He also enjoyed debating politics with friends and family, always doing so with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He loved conspiracy theories and discussing the obscure. John is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and an infant nephew, Robert Scott. Left to cherish John’s memory are his sister Linda (Jim) Medlang of Northwood, IA, his brother Theodore Scott of Antioch, IL, and his sister Nancy (Mark) Schucart of Gurnee, IL, four nieces Jessica (Scott) Butler, Sonya Medlang, and Nicole Scott, and Jane Schucart, two nephews, James William Medlang and Thomas Scott, his uncle and aunt, Mike and Kathy Scott of Bloomfield Hills, MI, many cousins in California, France, and Michigan, and five great nieces and nephews, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
