Jan Berghorst

89 of Downers Grove, IL died peacefully surrounded by family on February 9, 2025. She was born Janet Rose Drennan, on June 23, 1935, in Okemos, Michigan. She came from a multi-generational musical family, and music was a huge part of her life as a music educator, choral conductor, and church choir vocalist. Jan received a Bachelor’s degree in music education and a Masters degree in choral conducting from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she lived for many years and raised her children. Throughout her life, Jan was very involved with volunteer work and Mission work with her churches. She moved to Downers Grove, Illinois in 2019 to be closer to family. She was an avid walker and loved spending time with her family and friends. Jan loved being near the lake, and her favorite place was Crystal Lake in Frankfurt, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Edith Vliek, her Father, Harry G. “Red” Drennan, her brother, Ed Drennan, and nephew Randy Drennan. She is survived by her three children Marti (Rob), Jodi, and John (Nora), her five grandchildren Shelby, Justin, D, Jackson, and Max, and her niece Leslee and nephews Brad and Jeff. Jan will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
