passed away from natural causes on June 6, 2020 in his home in Schaumburg IL. He was born August 8, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Emil and Bette Callahan. Gary was a 1969 graduate of Brebeuf HS in Indianapolis, IU undergraduate, member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and IU Masters in Health Administration in January 1978. He was an Asst. Administrator at Sumner Hospital in Gallatin TN, F. Edward Herbert Hospital in New Orleans, LA; Administrator of Cole Hospital, Belmont Community Hospital, Vencor Hospital and Loretto Hospital in Chicago IL; Dir of Health Delivery Systems at American Health Care Providers, Inc. and Project Manager at American Family Health Services, Inc. in Matteson, IL; CEO of the Watertower Surgicenter in Chicago, and he consulted on various Health Administration development projects. Gary enjoyed golf, fantasy football and his annual Canadian fishing trip with friends. His hobbies included gardening and cooking. He was writing a fictional historical manuscript, enjoyed collecting vintage vinyl and composing electronic music. He could converse on any topic! Gary loved spending time with his family during the holidays, preparing his favorite dishes and spreading cheer. We will miss his laughter and enthusiasm at our gatherings. Gary is survived by his siblings Philip (Betsy) Callahan, Patrick Callahan, Michael (Masako) Callahan, Jane (Bob) Dixon, Jeffrey Callahan; Nieces Oaksoon (Michael Carlson) and Aika Callahan, Emily and Erin Dixon, Grace White (fiancé Austin Newman); Nephews Brian (Caroline) and Matthew (Becca) Callahan, William Dixon. Gary was preceded in death by his nephew Stuart Callahan. Funeral arrangements were made by Journey Cremations of Rolling Meadows IL; Private Service.
