Erda Karin Beslow (née) Feller

September 9, 1939 – July 27, 2026

Erda Karin Beslow entered the world with courage and determination. Born in Berlin, Germany, on September 9, 1939—during the city’s very first air raid of World War II—she faced life’s challenges with an indestructible spirit, spending the next 86 years bringing beauty, warmth, and success to everything she touched. Erda passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

In 1961, Erda immigrated to the United States as a sought-after European beautician, quickly building a loyal clientele. She later found her true professional passion as a real estate agent on Chicago’s North Shore. Her sharp business sense earned her Rookie of the Year honors in her first year, followed by consistent success as a Top Producer and an industry award winner.

It was in the U.S. that Erda shared her life’s great love story with her beloved husband, George L. Beslow, who preceded her in death.

Above all her accomplishments, Erda’s true devotion was to her family. She was an extraordinarily proud mother and grandmother who poured her heart into surrounding her family with love, pride, and support. She is survived by her three children, Berten T. Johnson IVAlexandrea (Ed) Gjertsen, and Tanja Biebel (and the late Martin); her three cherished grandchildren, Andrew GjertsenKatherine Gjertsen, and Meagan Biebel; four of her seven loving siblings; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 23rd.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Erda’s honor to UNICEF USA or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust.
