Cyrena Duda-Chiarello

86, of Palatine, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026.Cyrena was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend whose warmth touched everyone she met. She was known for her endless smile, her gentle words of wisdom, and a natural charm and positivity that brightened even the hardest days. Her home was often filled with the comforting aroma of her Italian cooking whether it was amazing gravy or famous Christmas cookies, a tradition cherished by all who loved her. She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Ruzycki and Jeanine Duer; her son-in-law, Joseph Duer; her beloved grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, and Cassidy; and her brother, Richard Chiarello. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Duda. Cyrena found her greatest joy in her family—especially her grandchildren and granddogs, who brought her endless happiness. She also enjoyed her daily chai tea lattes and the simple pleasures of life shared with those she loved. A longtime member of the Palatine Women’s Club, Cyrena was actively involved in her community. She dedicated many years as a secretary for local churches, where her kindness and dedication left a lasting impression. Cyrena will be remembered for her loving spirit, her resilience, and the light she brought into the lives of others. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
