Otis James Sr.

was born August 09, 1941 in Monterey, Louisiana. He retired from Beatrice Food Storage Company. Then, he became a lifelong member of the James Auto-Mechanic business throughout various locations in Chicago, Illinois. Dad loved his time with his brothers and cousins at the “yard” and they helped everyone who needed help.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mattie; brothers: J.C., Charles, Bobby; sisters: Ernestine, Louisa, and Shirley Mae.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children: Otis jr, LaDonna, Shunna, Marlon, and Sylvester; two brothers: Marvin (Texas), Richard (Louisiana); sister, Marilyn (Illinois); Aunt Jo and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dad lived a peaceful life and made his transition to eternal life on December 2, 2022, at the age of 81. Over the last few years dads’ illnesses became more aggressive. Dad never complained, remained patient, and maintained his peace. So “if you knew him, you knew he was a man of a few words.” September 2022 dads’ health declined, and the illnesses required hospitalization. During the hospital stays, dad still smiled and say “ok.” 

Dad was a humble man and during his last days, he touched us with his final words and final wishes.
